Project Overview

The Botanical Gardens Lighting Upgrade project aims to modernize our lighting infrastructure to improve safety, sustainability, and visitor experience after dusk. Our current lighting system, installed over 20 years ago, is reaching the end of its operational life.

This project seeks to address three core pillars:

  1. Safety & Accessibility: Ensuring pathways are well-lit for all mobility levels.
  2. Sustainability: Reducing energy consumption by 60% through smart-grid LED technology.
  3. Environmental Sensitivity: Implementing “dark-sky” compliant lighting that respects the local nocturnal ecosystem, particularly our resident bat colonies and pollinator populations.

Proposed Design Directions

We are seeking stakeholder feedback on three distinct lighting concepts. Please review the table below to understand how each approach prioritizes different project goals.
